Applying to school - what you need to know
Each school will have a different set of requirements for each different program.
You should directly contact the school of your choice for an application package
and for further specific information.
You may choose to apply to several institutions or perhaps only to one. As
you are choosing between the various schools and programs available you may want
to consider the following criteria:
- location
- costs
- housing options
- transportation
- academic requirements
- length of program
- work opportunities
- talk to others from your home who have studied in BC
In general follow these steps when you want to apply to a specific
school:
1. Contact the school and obtain an application package, schools will accept
paper applications and some institutions will accept online applications through
the Post-secondary Application Service of British Columbia.

2. Make note of the application dates and deadlines
3. Start to complete the application package.
- Make sure you have all the required academic transcripts, records, letters
of reference
- Ensure you have completed any required pre-requisites and have completed any
additional tests, for example the TOEFL, GRE's, LSAT, MCAT specific to your program
area of choice.
- Make note of the application costs
- Contact the institution to ensure you have all the information you require
to make your choice
4. Mail or Courier the completed application package to the school. If your
application package is incomplete the institution will not be able to process
it. Ensure you have copies of all the information inside the package and ensure
that the application will be received by the school before the application deadline.
