Ph.D. programs involve course work and original research. Admission requirement's usually include a Master's and Bachelor's Degree and are only awarded by Universities. Doctoral Degree One or two-year post-graduate programs. Typically a Bachelor's degree is required for admission Master's Degree Usually a four-year full time undergraduate degree that may be completed at university colleges, universities and institutes. Bachelor's Degree Academic courses taken at a college or university college that may be transferred to a university and applied towards a university bachelor's degree. University Transfer One year programs, provided by institutes, colleges, university colleges and universities. Certificate Two or three-year programs typically in the areas of career, technical or academic programs, provided by institutes, colleges, university colleges and universities. Diploma Short-term and long-term options for English language study. ESL programs Secondary schooling usually takes four years to complete and requires the completion of provincial level English, advanced mathematics and three other provincial level courses. Students normally complete their high school diplomas between the ages of 14 and 18 years. High School Bridging courses for the completion or upgrading of secondary school studies. These programs are offered by colleges, university colleges and institutes. The length of time required to complete your High School Equivalence will depend on the type and level of education you already have. High School Upgrading

Universities 

The universities in British Columbia offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of faculties. The universities are the major centres for academic and applied research, professors are internationally recognized and the facilities and associated institutes are of the highest quality.

University Colleges 

British Columbia's university colleges offer the same wide range of programs as colleges but in addition offer selected courses of study leading to bachelor's degree and to master's degree in applied areas.

Community Colleges

Colleges provide a wide range of programs and all Colleges offer courses in the four main fields of academic, career technical, vocational and adult basic education, including English as a Second Language. In addition, some colleges offer degree programs in applied areas.

Institutes

Institutes provide specialized instruction in technologies and trades, art and design, law enforcement and religious studies. Some instructions may also offer degrees in some specialized and applied areas including master's degrees.

Secondary (High School)

There are public and private secondary schools in BC and some offer international education programs.
Secondary, or high school as it is referred to in British Columbia, runs from grade 8-12, or approximately from age 13-18. Some private secondary schools provide residences for international students as well as short summer courses and programs. Other secondary schools may help you find a homestay family for high school students while they are studying in British Columbia.

English Language Schools

English Language Schools specialize in teaching general and specialized English language courses, generally to prepare students for admission to other schools. Programs generally encompass speaking, listening, reading, writing , oral grammar, TOEFL, TOEIC and business English.
